If you do not have a good app idea that solves a particular problem (or) better than existing apps your app will not get good results.
To get an app idea, you need to find a problem.
Where you can find it?.
You will find a problem by studying and analyzing the present apps available in the play store (or) app store (or) observing society around you.
Just imagine, you like playing video games and try to visualize any discomforts you felt about the app.
It may be more Ads blocking your game, It may be lack of precision,
It may be consuming more mobile data, It may be taking more time to start, etc…
Now, you can try to design your app related to video games by solving one (or) more problem shown above.
Getting an App Idea:-
Getting an app idea is easy, but getting a good idea is difficult.
I will explain to you what it means.
When you try to think about an app idea, you will get many ideas flooding into your mind. It is really good. But…
You need only one app that is good.
Although you get several ideas, after thinking in depth you may realize that those kinds of apps available in the market (I mean Play Store and App Store).
For example:-
1) When you think about seeing quality videos.
You will find “YouTube”.
2) When you think about posting beautiful images.
You will find “Instagram”.
3) When you want to meet new people.
You will find “Facebook”.
4) When you want to chat with your friends.
You will find “What’s Up”.
5) When you want to meet new companies, for more professional peoples.
You will find “LinkedIn”.
6) When you want your posts to be deleted when someone sees it.
You will find “Snap chat”.
These apps come under “relationship” (friends, family, business, etc…).
Now, you may be thinking that all the problems were already solved and you may feel a little discouragement. But…
The good news is…
There are other platforms where you can focus on such as…
“Health” (fitness, yoga, meditation, bodybuilding, etc.)
“Wealth” (Google pay, Phone pay, etc.)
“Travelling” (Make my trip, Uber, etc.)
“Food delivery” (Zomato, Swiggy, Uber eats, etc.)
“Gaming” (PUBG, OnDuty, FreeFire, Angry Birds, Candy crush saga, etc.)
Similarly, Productivity apps, Dating apps, and so on…
Have you observed that every category of apps in which I have more than one app?.
You know the answer, that is no app is not 100% perfect.
Every app which is launched will have a drawback (or) lack in the required feature etc…
Hence, these are the categories that you can focus on. You can also come up with an idea that is related to other platforms.
But, you need to market search before you start working on your app. (94% of mobile app developers will miss this and hence they won’t get the results they are looking for).
Conclusion:-
You don’t need to come up with an entirely new concept (or) idea.
You can use and study several apps in your niche you are interested in (or) you wanna build them as they are in good demand etc.
Then figure out “what are the problems they are facing, it may be a lack of good design, bad functionality, lack of good service, lack of good features, etc”.
Now, try to figure out (find out) what you can add to your app to solve those problems?.
What are you waiting for?. Write down all the app ideas coming in your mind and evaluate them.
Now, you have an app idea. Congratulations!!!
Now, you can show your app to your friends, family (or) others whom you can trust and then collect their reviews, opinions and then modify your app.
But…
If you are not satisfied with their reviews (or) opinions. Try one more time and modify your app until you and your future customers (friends, family etc.) are satisfied.
